Why do people treat their excessive sweating?
Many clients tell us that excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis, from their armpits or other areas of the body is socially very restrictive and can be embarrassing. It means that they have to wear dark clothes or have to layer their clothes, even in hot weather so that the patches under their arms don’t show.
How do Botox injections work?
Botox works by blocking the nerves responsible for activating your sweat glands. Normally, your nervous system activates your sweat glands when your body temperature rises. This is how your body automatically cools itself. In people with hyperhidrosis, however, the nerves that signal the sweat glands are overactive.
When you receive Botox injections directly into the area of your body that commonly sweats, your overactive nerves are essentially paralyzed. When your nerves can’t signal your sweat glands, you don’t sweat. However, Botox only prevents sweating in the specific area where it’s injected.
How long do the results last?
The results of hyperhidrosis treatment are amazing, with most of our clients describing them as life changing. The improvement of sweating is classically 80%-100% and it should last 6-12 months.
“I struggled a lot with sweating in my armpits, forehead and hands. It is amazing being able to go out and now and know that my armpits are going to stay reliably dry. My confidence has been boosted massively and I can’t think Luisa and the NSC team enough. They were attentive and professional throughout.” – Sarah
